Born in Tijuana, and brought up in a hardworking family, Javier is a person with a natural curiosity for taste. This has led him to take an adventurous journey, first into Baja, and then to the rest of the world to find unique ingredients.

The Soul of Baja is technically a cookbook but it is also a journey through the culinary history of the ambassador of Modern Mexican Cuisine, Chef Javier Plascencia.
Published after a vibrant, 30 year career, The Soul of Baja is a cookbook that is beautiful enough to be on the coffee table with photography from Jaime Fritsch but practical in its design with pull out cards for each recipe.
The book is written in both Spanish and English. It can be purchased at his restaurants throughout Baja.
